I'm currently working as a lecturer in the Master's Program in Peace and Conflict Resolution at Universitas Gadjah Mada, Indonesia. It's an honor to be part of the first Master's Program of its kind in the country, focusing on peace and conflict studies. In my role, I teach three important courses: Philosophy of Conflict Resolution, Human Security, and Strategic Analysis. Through these subjects, I'm committed to providing students with essential knowledge and skills and inspiring them to be dedicated to peace. I hope they will carry this commitment into their future careers and lives.
Additionally, I serve as the Director of Advocacy and Community Empowerment at Sukma Foundation, Indonesia. In this capacity, my responsibility is to guide the implementation of peace education in our schools, which are located in Aceh and Central Sulawesi. I aim to ensure that all members of our school community, including students, teachers, staff, and parents, understand and live by the values of peace.
Balancing these two roles is undoubtedly challenging but provides a wonderful opportunity to engage in meaningful work. It pushes me to research, design, and carry out effective peace education programs that teach peaceful values and helps people internalize them. It's an exciting and rewarding journey I'm grateful to be a part of.

I pursued a Master's degree in Peace Education at the University for Peace in Costa Rica during the 2005-2006 academic year. There, I was educated by peace education experts worldwide who were profoundly committed to realizing peace. They inspired me to apply what I had learned when I returned to Indonesia, and that's precisely what I did. I've worked with several national and international organizations and educational institutions as a specialist in peace education and peacebuilding.
Throughout my career journey, I've noticed that formal education in Indonesia is still far from embracing the ideals of peace education. Since recognizing this, I've been committed to focusing my efforts on improving education, particularly formal education in Indonesia, to embody the principles of peace education truly. I firmly believe that many of the issues we face in Indonesia could be resolved if individuals embraced peaceful values. I'm convinced this transformation can only be achieved through education, and I'm dedicated to making it happen.

I've been working on a method to instill the value of peace in my students, specifically through the regular practice of writing reflection papers each week following my lectures. This approach seems to be paying off, as evidenced by feedback from former students once they've left the university. Many have told me that this weekly exercise in reflection has helped them develop a more critical mindset, particularly when recognizing structural and cultural violence in their surroundings. Hearing this feedback is incredibly rewarding for me. To know that those I've had the privilege of guiding have grown into thoughtful individuals who genuinely care about maintaining peace in their communities represents my most outstanding achievement. It's a wonderful confirmation that the efforts in the classroom can translate into a lasting impact on their lives.

I'm not alone in realizing my dream of mainstreaming peace education in Indonesia. I'm supported by many who share the same concern as I do. My aspiration is a collective shared by those who care deeply about education in Indonesia. We work together because we recognize that we cannot accomplish our goals on our own.
My students are growing into individuals with an increasingly strong commitment to peace. The teachers in the schools I work with understand the importance of peace education in their lessons. My colleagues at the university also share the same enthusiasm for collaborative research in the field of peace.
