My work is focused mainly on the following: capacity-building with and for other educators, youth and other groups; support for peace processes; and advocacy for disarmament, interfaith harmony and nonviolent social change. In this work, the lack of ready financial resources is among the challenges that I have encountered. To overcome this, I have asked for the help of volunteers or associates who have been willing to work for the cause. The prevailing lack of good governance has also been a challenge.

My reasons for being a peace educator stem from both spiritual/ethical and practical roots. I think of my calling as upholding human dignity, promoting love as a social ethic, and cultivating nonviolence as an appropriate response to the destructive paths humanity has created.

One positive development I can share is the growing recognition of peace education as a needed field of study by both the public and private education sector. In this connection, I am pleased to say that our Center for Peace Education has taken an active role in this development by offering our knowledge, experience, and sources of inspiration.
|What keeps you going? / ¿Qué te hace seguir?
My firm conviction that I am on the “right side of history” and my support group of likeminded or kindred spirits, both in the local and global settings.
